sometimes i doubt the efforts of my tree hugging attempts. yesterday i read a girl's facebook note which brought inconsolable waves of panic, grief, and fear over me simultaneously and individually. it was the most obscenely ridiculous collection of uninformed, ignorant, despicable banter i've ever had the displeasure of reading. i hardly made it through the three or so pages of garbage.
in this letter/note/i'm not entirely sure what you'd call it, she repeatedly called environmental efforts selfish, stupid, pointless, and claimed that they are attacks on humanity. who can possibly think this? what person in their right mind lays claim that, as the planet has been here for four billion years and we've only been here for one hundred thousand, only two hundred of which have been technically industrialized, we have done nothing wrong and the planet is just fine and does everything itself?
REALLY???
i mean, honestly! where would you even come to find information that would bring you to those beliefs? in what realm do people still reside where litter, deforestation, oil guzzling and irresponsibility are acceptable? there is clear scientific evidence proving that our irresponsible industry is to blame for so many tragic things. what could possibly be unethical about photovoltaic/solar energy? or not wasting? sustainable agriculture and industrial methods?
is it because you feel so attached to smog induced allergies and cancers? you're so addicted to chemical additives and products? please. where do people like this come from, the twilight zone?
sometimes it feels as though that's where we are living. pump me full of preservatives and slather me with parabens, for i am big brother's humble servant. more 1-4 dioxane products. please sir, may i mow down another ancient forest habitat? and may i have another processed chemical treat? pesticides taste delicious!
and why should these people move me to such a state of distress? after all, we are all entitled to our own thoughts and opinions. is it fear of resistance permanently destroying all efforts and progress made thus far? that perhaps there are more of them than us? or that somehow their stubborn self serving destruction is accepted by the powerful, rendering us the powerless? where do they find information to back up their lies? what makes them think anyone is moving towards environmental progress to hurt them? after all, isn't the point - or wasn't it - to suggest (in part) that you and i are not what's important, the WORLD is? and that we can go about our lives and progress in a positive, less harmful manner? how is that harmful to you? is your daddy an oil tycoon? well then, you and your descendants are pretty much set for eternity cashwise. is he an employee of an american suv vendor? he'll be fine - accept changes in our vehicles, they'll be around regardless of what they're fueled by.

Your site is fun! I didn't see the Dresden Dolls in your favorite bands, but I just completed an interview with Amanda Palmer and Brian Viglione of The Dresden Dolls. Both interviews are on my audio page. Check them out if you get the chance.
